Andre Ethier's Streak & The Dodgers

Los A  Now while Andre Ethier's run at 29 games in a row, and counting, may not be anywhere near as magical as what Joe DiMaggio did back in 1941 with his 56 game hit streak and 73 of 74 games for the New York Yankees. But with all the uncertainty surrounding the ownership and front office of the team, in a time when the Dodgers are having extreme financial problems to the point that they need to borrow around $20-30 million dollars just to meet payroll with an additional $200 million loan pending awaiting approval from the MLB, this streak couldn't have come at a better time. While the MLB appointed Tom Schieffer tries to figure out where all the money is going in the Dodgers organization, Ethier is doing something to keep the fans excited about the Los Angeles Dodgers, and especially if he can keep it going, can almost single handedly keep fans interested in the club and bring in some much needed positive attention to the franchise from the media. Apart from all the off-field antics by Frank McCourt, Ethier is making himself a great case that he is THE cornerstone player to lead this team to the first World Series since 1988 and perhaps emerging as one of the best players in the MLB. So while we wait for the dark cloud circling above Dodgers Stadium to clear, we'll all enjoy watching as Ethier continues his quest to break the unbreakable record that Joltin' Joe set so many years ago.
